Willie was hook on music when he was able to watch his grandmother play piano at the age of 5. Grandmother Sara would come down stair with her fancy jewelry and fine clothes and give a home concert Grandmother Sara would let me sit right next to her on the piano bench, as she played beautiful music.
I wanted to play an instrument in junior high .
I took a music test and failed it at the age of 12. I was told that I could never play an instrument in junior high . My mother and father both played instruments dad played harmonica and mom also played piano. My uncle William Bill Randall played piano and organ. My grandmother also played accordion so I learned to play the accordion . I could pick up melodies on the radio with the accordion I got so good at picking up melodies on any radio station that I could flick the tuning knob to any station and pick the melodies on any music. I was able to join the choir in junior high and became an all city choir member.
I put music on the back burner and became an athlete. playing sports through high school and college. What is unique about my music journey is that I am self taught as a sing song writer and composer and create music in several genres. My music seems to spark people to say incredible thing as compliments.I did take lesson as I progressed to become more proficient at piano, electric keyboards and singing. I studied with Larry McCoy and Dr. Bruce Marshall for live performance and keyboard theory also studied classical voice two yeares with Dr. Mureece Murphy and a member of the Coppin State Choir for three years.
High light of my career are creation of Tay Music company in 2000.
